'I was conscious of being labelled the angry black girl': Love Island's Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope admit they felt pressure to represent 'black love' on the show

Love Island's Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope have spoken about the pressure they felt to represent black love on Monday's BBC 1Xtra Breakfast show with Nadia Jae.
The hotel waitress, 23, also claimed she had concerns about being labelled the 'angry black girl', which forced her to rein herself in during frustrating situations.
Microbiologist Dami, 26, said: 'When I got with Indiyah, I knew everyone would be tweeting, "Black love, black love."
'And when Casa Amor happened, I knew that if I did what I needed to do for myself, people were gonna be crying and complaining.
Because I've been on Twitter and I get it. You know I've sent some people back into hiding since I've been out.

He joked: 'People were coming for me when I was in there! Nah….I'm just playing.'
Indiyah added: 'I love my black men. But respectfully, if the black love didn't happen, what am I supposed to do?
'So I didn't feel the pressure of, "I need to be with a black guy, I need to do this black love." I went in there for me, if I found someone, I found love - it's no one else's business, you can't pressure me to find love.'
Nadia then asked Indiyah if she felt pressure to not 'overreact' when it came to certain situations out of fear of being labelled the 'angry black girl'.
Indiyah admitted: 'Yeah, I think definitely. Especially in Casa Amor, I was definitely put in a position where I could easily have popped off.
'It was an annoying thing and I definitely had to think first before I said certain things because I knew if I reacted in a certain way it would be… angry black girl, the aggressor, the bully. But me in general, I'm not an angry girl.'
Dami famously landed himself in hot water when he had a three-way kiss with Summer and Chyna when Indiyah was away in Casa Amor.
However, it didn't take long for the original flame to spark again, and Dami and Indiyah were once again back on.
They eventually finished the show in third place and were still together during the reunion episode.
