'My mam let me dress myself': Bake Off star Candice Brown, 36, rocks dinosaur dungarees as she celebrates her birthday after 'bad year' which saw her split from husband Liam Macaulay

She's not had the easiest of years after splitting from her husband Liam Macaulay.

And Candice Brown made sure to mark her 36th birthday in style as she rocked a pair of quirky dinosaur dungarees while enjoying a stroll on Monday.

The 2016 Bake Off winner showed off her grey ensemble in a fun snap shared to Instagram, cheekily penning: 'My mam let me dress myself'.

Candice paired her eye-catching dungarees with a teddy bucket hat and scarf as well as a camo-print jacket which she left open.

The blonde beauty wore her long locks down and also added a slick of red lipstick for her walk around a park during her big day. 

She captioned the image: 'Today was my birthday. My mam let me dress myself. I can’t describe how bad this year has been but I enjoyed this outfit today. 

'Be yourself and never apologise for that as at the end of the day you only have you, Dino dungarees and a teddy bucket hat (or a sick variation of whatever you want) thank you for the love today I saw it all and I know how lucky I am.'

During the day, Candice also shared several birthday tributes shared with her on the social media site as well as a snap showing balloons at her home.

The dining area had been transformed into a stylish gold balloon and present display boasting several cards on the table and a banner as well as a pretty Christmas tree.    

The TV star seems to have been keeping her head up following a difficult year, which has seen her secretly split from her husband-of-two-years Liam Macaulay.  

Back in August, Candice hinted at her 'hopelessness' after liking a post by artist and author Charles Mackesy, which encouraged 'holding on' when 'your mind plays tricks on you'.

It read: 'Sometimes your mind plays tricks on you. It can tell you you're no good, that it's all hopeless. But remember this; you are loved, and important and you bring to this world things no one else can. So hold on.'

That same day, claims emerged that Candice and her tree surgeon beau had secretly split earlier in the year.

The report claimed that Liam moved out of the pub - The Green Man in Eversholt, Milton Keynes - where the couple previously lived together, and back to Ampthill, Bedfordshire. 

According to The Mirror, Candice Brown's representative said at the time: 'I can confirm Candice and Liam separated earlier this year.'

The famous baker first met Liam in the bar where he worked while studying for a degree, back in 2012.

After five years of dating, the couple announced their engagement in October 2017, just over a year after she first appeared on Bake Off, which she went on to win. 

Candice exchanged nuptials with her longtime love at Château de Varennes in Burgundy, France, in September 2018.
