Daisy Ridley crash lands on a planet full of men (much to the shock of Tom Holland) in trailer for dystopian sci-fi thriller Chaos Walking

Sci-fi fans were delighted to finally get a glimpse of upcoming thriller Chaos Walking, starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley.

The movie - which has been delayed due to COVID-19 - released its first trailer on Thursday.

Set in the future, the plot sees Todd Hewitt [Holland] stumble across Viola Eade [Ridley], a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet - New World - where all the women have disappeared.

The men on the planet are afflicted by 'Noise' – a force that puts all their thoughts on display.

Todd believes women ceased to exist long ago, wiped out by the same deadly pathogen that unleashed Noise. 

Todd is able to communicate with her in a patch of silence in a swamp, where he's not affected by Noise.

The pair decide to join forces to decipher why New World exists, where the women are, and what Noise is.

Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.

The movie was delayed but recently tipped for a January 22, 2021 release.

The movie began principal photography way back in November 2017. As well as the COVID-19 crisis causing delays, Holland and Ridley's other committments also slowed production down.

It has been adapted from the best-selling 2008 novel The Knife Of Never Letting Go.

It is helmed by the director of The Bourne Identity and Edge Of Tomorrow Doug Liman, from a screenplay written by the novel's author Ness and Spider-Man: Homecoming writer Christopher Ford.

The film also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter, and David Oyelowo.
