Chloe Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne share a hug on red carpet as longtime friends attend Gotham Awards in NYC

Chloe Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne shared a hug on the red carpet at the Gotham Independent Film Awards Monday held at New York City's Cipriani Wall Street.

The actresses and New York City natives are good friends who have collaborated professionally on projects such as Lyonne's Netflix series Russian Doll, the 2003 film Party Monster and the 2016 horror movie Antibirth.

At the event, Lyonne, 40, donned a long-sleeved black dress with billowing sleeves and a large bow on the neck. She wore her red mane down and parted with bangs and carried a black clutch.

Natasha on Monday was nominated for Breakthrough Series - Short Format for Russian Doll, but lost out to the Hulu series PEN15.

Sevigny, 45, donned a long beige dress with puffy shoulder areas and cuffs just below the elbow. The American Horror Story actress wore white boots and toted a white clutch, with her blonde locks parted and slicked back at the swanky event.

The friends spoke with InTouch in 2016 about their affinity for one another, and how their bond has lasted amid decades in show business.

'It's nice to have someone that I can confide in and also whose taste I admire and trust,' Sevigny told the publication in a chat during the Sundance Film Festival. 'I can talk about choices and offers, and they have an opinion that really matters to me.'

Lyonne joked that they share details about their 'boyfriends so we can read each other's text messages and be like, what is this one? 

'With Chloe it's really pretty deep,' Lyonne told the outlet. 'We've been really tight now for 20 years so it's kind of hard to surpass. I almost feel like a decade ago or whatever it was, it felt like more of an age gap between us because Chloe was already sort of like a very cool person and I was sort of 17 and figuring stuff out.'

Lyonne said her relationship with Sevigny 'felt more like siblings in a weird way.'

She continued: 'Chloe is that amazing sort of caretaker and in many ways it was sort of that dynamic that as we have gotten older it's been this incredible thing to watch our friendship really grow.'

In the chat, Sevigny said Lyonne, with her wisdom, is a go-to when it comes to major questions.

'If anybody has any emotional or moral dilemmas, we go to Tashe because she's the most analytical and the smartest of the lot and can really talk things out in a way and make you see things from other angles, and the argument that maybe you wouldn't want to face,' Sevigny said. 'She has like a real arsenal of ways to deal with problems.'
