Loose Women stars reflect on Mike Thalassitis' death and claim 'we are ALL responsible'... prompting Niall Horan to tweet his support

The Loose Women panel discussed the death of Love Island's Mike Thalassitis on Monday's show, after the 26-year-old was found hanged in woodland at the weekend.

And Saira Khan - who comes from a reality TV background having risen to fame on The Apprentice and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother subsequently - said she believes 'we are all responsible' after various other Love Island stars hit out at ITV for not keeping a close enough eye on their ex-contributors.

'I came into this business from a reality show,' the 48-year-old recalled, dwelling on her own experiences. 'I was an ordinary person in my 30s and you go from an ordinary life and then you’re on TV and people see an edited version of you.

'When I was on The Apprentice in 2004 social media wasn't a big thing but people would see me on the street and comment on me and judge me. I was struggling with depression.

'The only reason I got out of it was that I had an incredibly supportive husband and family.

'We might not mean it, I’ve done it myself - but sometimes we have to all be responsible, we don’t know these people, we don’t know their life, we have to be responsible.'

Andrea McLean added: 'All of us need to remember we are all human beings. It's so sad on every level. On average 84 men take their life each week.'

Coleen Nolan shared her own experiences with men and depression in her life.

'When women go out we discuss everything, any problems we have with children. I’ve spoken to men and they says they just don’t do that,' she said. 'What scares me is that they are completely and utterly different in that respect.

'[Son Jake] will talk about everything. [Other son] Shane is different. Even when I know he's down about something I ask him and he says he's fine and I do worry about him. He's a campaigner for depression and anxiety for young men.

'It’s about men trying to talk to each other, it’s not about being macho, just open up to each other and talk.

The official Loose Women Twitter account replied: 'Thank you for watching Niall. And thanks for raising awareness about the need to talk about mental health, especially young men, and being kind on social media'

'I think for young men I would say, I’ve got a young son, I encourage my husband to talk to my son about his feelings so that he knows that he can talk about things.'

Coleen, who has appeared on reality show Celebrity Big Brother, as well as suffered mass-trolling on Twitter after a televised altercation with Kim Woodburn, after which she was branded a 'bully', concluded: 'I worry about the social media side of all things.

'You get comments from people on a post and that affects you, coming from a reality show where you are from that world and people feel that they can comment and that puts them under pressure.'
