Julia Roberts dons dotted LBD and embraces onscreen son Lucas Hedges at Ben Is Back premiere in NYC

Oscar winner Julia Roberts flashed her famous mega-watt grin as she embraced her onscreen son Lucas Hedges at the New York premiere of their film Ben Is Back on Monday night. 

The Oscar nominee - turning 22 next week - gave the 51-year-old mother-of-three a big bear hug as they reunited to promote the family drama at AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13.

'He was at our house a lot. He was there for Thanksgiving. He came to soccer games,' the Georgia-born belle told Extra on Monday of their pre-filming bonding.

'He went to the beach with [my twins Hazel & Phinnaeus, nearly 14; and son Henry, 11], and did things so that we were part of each other's lives before we started to pretend to be the most important people in each other's lives.'

In Ben Is Back - hitting US theaters Friday - Roberts play drug addict Ben Burns' concerned mother Holly. who will do 'anything' to help him.

'Oh, anything!' the self-described soccer mom said of helping her own children.

'I mean, that is the universal connective tissue of mothers and mother figures in the world. There is nothing you would not do to help, save, support, hold your child close.'

For the red carpet, the three-time Golden Globe winner looked slim in a single-strapped dotted LBD, patent leather pumps, and a white maxi-coat selected by stylist Elizabeth Stewart.

Hairstylist Serge Normant coiffed Julia's blonde wavy updo for the glitzy event. 

And make-up artist Genevieve Herr applied Roberts' smoky eye and dark brows.

The 58-year-old Harvard grad - who's really married to Angela Bassett - plays Neal Burns, who tries to remain patient and understanding in the Christmas Eve flick.
