Braving Storm Barbara! Former Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly looks windswept on blustery family outing in Manchester

Britain has been battered by high winds as Storm Barbara sweeps over the country.

And former Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly braved the wet and windy weather to step out in Manchester with her husband Ryan Clark and their young daughter Orla on Friday afternoon.

The 37-year-old actress looked a little windswept as she powered along in the pouring rain, pushing her little girl in a buggy.

Katherine, famed for playing Becky McDonald in the ITV soap from 2006 to 2012, was wrapped up against the weather in a brown faux fur coat.

She dressed down the look with knee-high leather boots and black leggings.

The TV personality was seen struggling to cross the road with her husband, holding an umbrella aloft to protect her from the rain.

The pair appeared to have been doing a spot of last minute Christmas shopping ahead of the weekend's festivities.

Speaking about motherhood, the Mr Selfridge star revealed that having a child had a profound effect on her emotions, telling the Daily Mail's You magazine: 'I get weepy even watching the news.

'I agree with my mother that having children removes a layer of skin that you never grow back.'

She added: ‘Orla’s full of energy – we have to take her out at least twice a day to burn it off.

‘Becoming a mother has turned my world upside down, but in a really good way – it’s the best.’
