Welcome to the paw-ty! Maria Menounos throws epic Sweet 16 for her dog Baby instead of her own birthday party 

In dog years, it was a Sweet 112th. 

But Maria Menounos' dog Baby was as happy as a puppy at the party her owner threw for her on Sunday.

The actress, who turned 38 on Friday, decided to have a sweet 16 for the Bichon Frise instead of her usual birthday shindig.

'Instead of my annual birthday party, I've decided to throw my dog a Sweet 16 birthday party, she almost died two months ago, and she made it, and we're celebrating,' she revealed in a Snapchat video.

And that wasn't the last video the E! host shared either, as she uploaded dozens of snaps throughout the doggy-themed day.

She laid on doggy bone platters and tonnes of treats for the four-legged guests, while their owners snacked on pretzel fetch sticks, dog-shaped sandwiches and even 'dog poop' biscuits.

'I found all of these little things on Pinterest and we just started copying them, such good ideas,' she revealed, adding that Pretty Little Bakers helped her out with some of the more elaborate offerings.

Besides the food and their devoted water station, the pooches enjoyed doggy pools, a photo booth and even a tiny kissing booth, while the tennis court was converted into an obstacle course.

There was also a dying station where the fluffier guests could get their fur coloured pink or blue, and at least one dog turned up with a glossy pink manicure.

Just about all the pets invited were wearing their Sunday best, including tutus, stick on earrings, and Maria even admired one dog's 'tramp stamp' on her rear. 

Baby was not the only dog present who had a recent close call, as Maria was seen greeting one guests who gave her owner a scare when she went missing. 

'When u were lost i searched this entire city for you, and now you're back and were so happy to see u at Baby's birthday,' she squealed.

In fact, whenever Maria addressed any canine guests in her many videos her voice jumped up a couple of octaves, sometimes becoming and indecipherable shriek. 

The dog charity Wags And Walks also had a station set up where people could adopt a rescue pet, even bringing along a couple of irresistible puppies who had plenty of interested potential new owners by the end of the day.

Indeed many of Baby's guests were rescue animals — one poor thing was saved from being 'boiled alive at a Korean slaughterhouse', according to one caption.

Some guests might have noticed Baby appeared to be a little sizest in her circle of friends; besides one collie, one retriever and one Staffy-cross, the vast majority of the dogs were toy breeds.

Animal lover Menounos also has a second Bichon called Benjamin, a German Shepherd called Apollo and a poodle named Athena.
