Alexa Demie looked worlds away from her Euphoria debut as she made an almost unrecognisable appearance at the season three premiere in LA on Tuesday.

The actress, 35, who plays Maddy in the series, ditched her usual straight locks and dark eye makeup for a more fresh-faced look. 

Alexa channeled classic glamour in a plunging silver-and-black striped off-the-shoulder gown for the star-studded event.

The star's character Maddy was a fan favourite in the series known for her sassy comebacks and tumultuous relationship with Jacob Elordi's character Nate. 

After the premiere many took to social media to remark on her different appearance as they penned: 'something looks different about her but i cant put my finger on it.',

'She looks different.', 'Omg she's hardly recognisable.', 'OMG THIS IS NOTTTTT THE GIRL FROM EUPHORIA!?!?', 

'Man… she did something and looks like everyone else now.', 'alexa demie, what have you done with alexa demie?'

The new season of Euphoria, which premieres on HBO on Sunday, April 12, is returning nearly four years after the conclusion of season two.

Euphoria picks up five years from where it left off, with most of its returning cast now out of college, Levinson told Variety in December.

Zendaya's character, Rue, is still struggling with drug addiction, but she has moved to Mexico in an attempt to escape drug dealers whom she owes money to.

Meanwhile, her former classmates are spread across the country. 

Sydney Sweeney's character, Cassie, has landed in suburbia with Nate (Elordi), and the two will tie the knot in the third season.

Nate's former high school girlfriend, Maddy (Demie), is now working at a talent agency in Hollywood, while Lexi (Maude Apatow) also works in the film and television industry as an assistant to a showrunner who's played by Sharon Stone.

Season three also marks the final on-screen appearance of Eric Dane, who played Elordi's father and died in February at 53 after a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The characters are placed five years in the future in the final season of the Sam Levinson drama, which began in 2019 with the cast in high school. 

Levinson explained the time jump at an HBO event in London earlier this month: 'Five years felt like a natural place because if they'd gone to college they'd be out of college at that time.'

Per The Hollywood Reporter, he added, 'We basically pick up Rue [Zendaya] south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie [Martha Kelly], trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.'

While appearing on The Tonight Show recently, Sweeney reflected on wrapping up filming the show in November.

'It was super bittersweet because most of the crew I had worked with since I was 20, when I did the pilot. 

'So every single time I'd go back, I felt like I was going home and I was getting to see everybody...They're a part of [my] family,' the actress told host Jimmy Fallon.

In an interview with Empire magazine earlier this year, Sweeney gushed about the character, 'I have such a spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear.'

She continued, 'She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She's flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. It could be a sad version of love, as well. It's so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is.'

And the blonde bombshell said that in the next chapter of the show, Cassie will get 'crazier.'

She said about working with the show's creator and director, 'Sam is such a brilliant filmmaker to work with, because I'll read something, then I'll call him, and I'm like, 'Let's go crazier.' And he's like, 'I'm all in.' And this season is unhinged.'

It was announced months ago that Sharon Stone was cast in season three, joining a notable group of A-listers previously added to the show, including Spanish singer Rosalía, Super Bowl winner Marshawn Lynch, and A Different World star Kadeem Hardison.
