'My husband and I became nana and grandad!' Denise Welch tears up as she announces the arrival of her first grandchild as stepson Lewis Townley and wife Elizabeth welcome baby boy

Denise Welch teared up as she announced the arrival of her first grandchild during Friday's episode of Loose Women. 

The panelist, 63, who is married to painter Lincoln Townley, revealed her step-son Lewis and his wife Elizabeth welcomed a baby boy 'two days ago'. 

Opening the show, host Charlene White said: 'There's a bit of a Friday feeling in the air today and but especially for Denise because you’ve had something special this week, haven’t you?' 

'My husband and I became nana and grandad two days ago!' the emotional presenter confirmed. 

Clearly very excited by the joyous family news, Denise added: 'My step son Lewis and his wife Lizzie, gave birth to a beautiful little boy.'

She continued: 'I can't say much more because they haven't done the photo reveal and everything so I'll do that as soon as I can. 

'I've gone for nana because when you've have blended families you have to share the baby out between so many people.' 

'My mum was nana and I had a nana. I selfishly wanted Lincoln to be "grompa"

In the North East we say "grompa" so I suppose that would be spelt G R O M P A.

'But he's going to be grandad and Lewis' mum Bev, she's going to be nanny and Lizzie's mum and dad are just thinking about what they are going to be.'

Presenters Charlene, Sophie Morgan and Brenda Edwards all offered their congratulations as the audience cheered for Denise. 

Denise married husband Lincoln Townley in 2013 and was previously married to actor Tim Healy between from 1988 until 2012. 

She shares Matt Healy, 32, who is a band member in The 1975, with and Louis Vincent, 22, her first husband. 

It comes after Denise congratulated stepson Lewis and his wife Elizabeth after the couple confirmed they were expecting their first child. 

The Loose Women panelist shared the news with Instagram followers in September while reposting a 12-week ultrasound scan of the unborn child. 

Captioning the image, she wrote: 'Congratulations @lewtownley and @elizabeth_townley_cope on your first baby. We are thrilled.' 

The couple, who only celebrated their first wedding anniversary on August 13, previously revealed the baby is expected to arrive on March 22.
