'They had no clue what was going on': Love Island's Shaughna Phillips reveals she walked out on a lavish £1,000 Christmas Day meal 'disaster' and ate a pizza instead for her festivities

Love Island's Shaughna Philips has revealed that she ended up eating a takeaway pizza on Christmas Day after a lavish £1,000 dinner went completely wrong.

The reality star, 28, has been very private when it comes to her personal life but divulged her Christmas plans which ended badly after waiters who 'had no clue what was going on' left her walking out on a restaurant.

Writing in her column with OK Magazine, Shaughna revealed that after booking eight weeks in advance and putting down an £80 deposit, the 'disaster' plans went from bad to worse.

'We got there at about 1 o'clock and it took about an hour and a half for the tasters section of the five-course meal to come out. The waiters, who looked about 16 and as if they were plucked from off the street, had no clue what was going on.

'They kept asking us what we'd ordered, but it had been eight weeks – we couldn't remember! There were no menu cards in front of us either. At one point, soup came out of the kitchen and when we asked what kind if was, the waiters didn't know.'

By the time it got to around 3.45pm, Shaughna said she complained that they were still waiting on their main course - but then it only came out as a plate of meat and no sides.

She explained that she kept asking about the essentials of her roast dinner, including potatoes, carrots, Yorkshire puddings, but instead was only given a slice of turkey each.  

The manager cried when she came over and Shaughna complained, she said, and after seeing a mother and her son leave after waiting 30 minutes for the bill which never arrived, Shaughna decided to do the same.

'It was £100 a head and with the drinks, the bill would've been £1,300. We walked out without paying, we went home hungry. I got an email later with apology from the restaurant and my £80 deposit refunded. Billy and I ended up sharing a pizza for dinner that night.'

She went on to say she would 'never again' go out for Christmas after a terrible first experience.

It comes after Shaughna revealed she won't be naming her unborn baby after her late father because she still struggles with the loss of him not being here.

The Love Island star who's expecting her first baby, told her 1.4million Instagram followers if she has a boy he will be called Billy Edward and his middle name will be inherited from her dad, who sadly lost his life to cancer in 2016.

She explained the baby will be named Billy after her boyfriend, who's the father, because 'it would be too much' for her to say her late dad's name everyday.

Shaughna said: 'My dad's name will be the baby's second name. There's a few reasons I'm not naming my baby after my dad.

'My dad's actual name is Edward but everyone called him Eddie and I just don't know how okay I would be with saying my dad's name every day. 

'I still struggle with my dad not being here so I think it would be too much for me. Baby will be Billy Edward if he is a boy.'

She added: 'We're keeping the girl's name a secret but it's not a sentimental name, just a name we both love.'

The former Islander announced she was expecting in October captioning a montage that included scans of the baby, 'our greatest chapter yet.'   

She shares the unborn child with boyfriend Billy, who isn't in the public eye and prefers to keep his identity hidden.
