Azealia Banks adds another Melbourne show to her tour after cancelling Brisbane gig because she claimed a bottle was thrown at her on stage - despite the incident actually taking place in Melbourne

Azealia Banks has added another Melbourne show after cancelling her initial gig last minute due to visa issues.

The singer and rapper, 31, furiously insisted there will be no second show but has since announced she will be performing on Sunday night at The Timber Yard.

The New York native, best known for her 2012 megahit 212, also refused to play Brisbane on Tuesday night, cancelling her set.

The cancellation follows an outburst in 2015, where she made aggressive comments about Australia, calling Aussies 'violent' and 'belligerent'.

'I'm so sorry you guys – actually I'm not sorry – but listen: last time I was in Brisbane and y'all threw s*** on the stage and damn near almost f***ing hit me in the face with a f***ing bottle of soda or whatever that s*** was,' Banks tweeted this week.

'That was the most racist, most demoralising experience of my f***ing life and right now I'm on a really good track.  

'I am too far away from home… I am a beautiful black woman and I am not going to get in front of some audience of white people for them to be throwing s*** at me. I am so not sorry. I am not sorry at all.'

The incident Banks is referring to actually occurred at Listen Out Festival in Melbourne back in 2013, where a fan threw a beer can at her while she was on stage. 

Taking to the comments following the announcement of the new show in Melbourne, fans were quick to point out the prior incident and expressed their confusion as to why Banks added another date.

'Ok so you cancel Brisbane because of an incident of a drink thrown at you in MELBOURNE way back in 2013, but then you add new dates for a Melbourne show…?' one user wrote.

'Girl u realise melbourne bottled u not brisbane,' another added.

Meanwhile, one fan wrote: 'I thought u said there’s no rescheduled show.' 

Banks' 2013 appearance lasted only minutes as she chose to cut her set short on account of audience behaviour.

She was performing her song ATM Jam, when an audience member threw a beer can onto the stage, prompting Banks to storm off and cut the music.

In a statement at the time, Banks' management wrote: 'Azealia Banks was forced to cut her set short last night at the Listen Out Festival in Melbourne on 5th October 2013. 

'This was as a result of a member of the audience throwing a full can on beer at her on stage.'

'The incident made Azealia and her stage crew feel unsafe. Banks would like to apologise to those fans in the audience whose experience was affected by the behavior of one individual,' the statement continued.

Banks' current appearance in Australia was thought to have been the end to a disastrous tour, after planned gigs in Melbourne and Sydney were postponed due to 'visa issues'.

The rapper apparently agreed to play in Brisbane on the 2022 tour after her initial reluctance if security measures were beefed up, but then backed out claiming her requests had been disregarded.

'After this run this will be my very last time touring Australia,' she said. 

'This place makes me utterly miserable and I’m too black and beautiful to have a bunch of white people in my face playing with me over their weak a** currency.'
