LeBron James leads fury over disastrous Prime Video gaffe as pivotal NBA coverage cuts off in final seconds

LeBron James was one of many left in disbelief after Prime Video's coverage of a crucial NBA play-in game briefly went down in the dying seconds of overtime.

As the Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat battled it out to keep their seasons alive on Tuesday, basketball fans across the country missed an important moment when the streaming giants' feed cut out with less than 30 seconds on the clock.

Viewers missed a LaMelo Ball lay-up that gave the Hornets a five-point lead during that time, before they eventually held on for a 127-126 win after the technical glitch was fixed.

While it only lasted for around a minute, LeBron took to X to express his dismay with Prime Video's poorly-timed mishap.

'Tell me the game didn't just cut off?!!? Am I trippin?? WTH,' the NBA legend wrote along with a face-palm emoji.

Atlanta Hawks guard CJ McCollum also posted: 'Technical Difficulties right now is absurd'.

While sportswriter Bill Simmons commented: 'Amazon Prime with the mass murder!!!!!'

A number of fans also hit out at Prime Video over the error, including one who said: 'Nothing like "Technical Difficulties" during overtime of the play-in game. Just brilliant by the NBA and Amazon Prime Video. Brilliant!'

Another fumed: '@NBA Prime is NOT the “network” to have any playoff games! Sound and video messed up most of the game then “technical difficulty” in OT?? Are you serious??!!!'

While one went as far to say: 'Prime Video shouldn’t get a single NBA game next season…'

Ball made a layup with 4.7 seconds left in overtime and Miles Bridges blocked Davion Mitchell's attempt at a winning layup at the buzzer as the Hornets beat the Heat in a wild start to the NBA's play-in games.

The 24-year-old Ball finished with 30 points and 10 assists and Bridges had 28 points and nine rebounds as Charlotte won its first postseason home game in a decade. Coby White had 19 points, including a turnaround 3 with 10.8 second left in regulation to send the game to OT.

Mitchell scored 28 points and Andrew Wiggins added 27 for the Heat, who lost Bam Adebayo to a lower back injury when Ball tripped him in the second quarter.
