Americans reveal their verdict on Trump's shaky ceasefire with Iran and whether it'll last

Americans are cautiously embracing Donald Trump’s fragile ceasefire with Iran, but few are convinced it will hold.

After threatening to destroy an entire civilization, the President announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran as further diplomatic talks with the regime are expected to take place at a summit in Pakistan on Friday. Vice President JD Vance is expected to lead those peace discussions.

According to the latest Daily Mail/JL Partners poll, American voters were 'relieved' that the President decided to take the off-ramp instead of escalating the war.

The survey found that 33 percent of voters view the deal as a good outcome for the United States, compared to 18 percent who see it as a bad one.

Another 28 percent of respondents said they feel neutral about the agreement, while 20 percent remain unsure, underscoring the public’s mixed but measured reaction.

The dominant emotional response to the ceasefire is 'relieved,' according to survey data visualized in a word cloud that captures the mood of a war-weary electorate.

American sense of relief, however, is tempered by skepticism surrounding the deal’s long-term durability.

Only one in four Americans believes the ceasefire will probably or definitely hold, with just 7 percent expressing full confidence it will last, according to the Daily Mail poll.

The deal’s economic concessions are also drawing scrutiny, particularly Iran’s move to charge ships a fee to pass through the Strait of Hormuz

A majority, 54 percent, say the agreement will either probably or definitely collapse, signaling widespread doubt about Iran’s intentions and the strength of the terms.

The deal’s economic concessions are also drawing scrutiny, particularly Iran’s decision to charge ships a fee in the Strait of Hormuz.

The strait, through which nearly a quarter of the world’s oil passes, had been open and freely accessible to energy companies before Trump launched his war.

Some 41 percent of Americans say that the outcome is bad overall, compared to 19 percent who view it as good, while 24 percent are neutral and 16 percent are unsure.

Despite those concerns, 43 percent of voters say the US should accept the fee to preserve the ceasefire, while 32 percent oppose it and 25 percent remain undecided.

The Iranians put forward a ten-point ceasefire plan that Trump called 'a workable basis on which to negotiate.'

The plan allows Iran to continue controlling the strait, although Tehran said countries that did not threaten them militarily would be allowed to pass.

Trump's polling fell to the lowest levels of his second term following the launch of Operation Epic Fury.

The President’s rising unfavorability appears to have been driven in part by surging gas prices after the strait’s closure, with the national average climbing to $4.10 per gallon.
