Mom-of-three in critical condition after woman's dog mauled her and left her to die in a ditch
A mother of three was found critically injured in a ditch after she was viciously mauled by a woman's dogs.
LaKesha Newsom, 35, was airlifted to the Regional One Hospital in Memphis on March 3 after she was found partially-clothed in the shallow ditch, according to the Holly Springs Police Department.
Officials said that Newsom was conscious and was able to inform them that she had been attacked by dogs.
The mother flatlined on her way to the hospital and was resuscitated, according to Fox 10 News.
Rosie Young, Newsom's mother, said while at the hospital her daughter explained what happened during the horrifying attack.
'She felt the dogs gnawing on her, eating on her,’ Rosie told Fox. 'The only thing in her head was, "I want to live."'
'And I told her, “For you to be here today, you have life in you."'
Nearly three weeks after the attack, officials arrested Sandra Harris on March 23 in connection with the dog mauling.

Harris, 54, has been charged with aggravated assault and manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life and was being held at the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
In an unfortunate update, DeWaylia Young, Newsom's sister, explained that her loved ones 'condition has taken a devastating turn.'
‘She has had her right arm and right leg amputated. She is currently heavily sedated and on the ventilator,' added DeWaylia.
'Bacteria and infection from the attack are spreading rapidly throughout her body.'
Her sister noted that they were told Newsom may not have much time left.
'In the middle of this unimaginable situation are her three children, who are now facing the possibility of losing their mother,' said DeWaylia.
In efforts to support Newsom's children, a GoFundMe has been set up that has nearly reached its goal of $6,500.
'We are taking things moment by moment, holding onto every bit of time we have left with her,' the sister added. 'Any support, prayers, or shares mean more than words can express.'

In a GoFundMe the sister wrote that Newsom is suffering from a bacterial infection from injuries and needed her arm and leg amputated
Many went online to share their prayers with the family and give words of encouragement.
One user wrote: 'Sorry to hear this, pray she will recover and heal quickly.'
Another added: 'This is so heartbreaking, sending so many prayers!'
A third said, 'I'm so sorry all of this is going on, sending prayers.'
Officials noted that the incident is under investigation and asked anyone with information to call the Holly Springs Police Department.
