Shrek 5 is officially in development and is currently scheduled to be released in cinemas in June 2027, with Mike and Eddie reprising their roles.

Part of Mike's move away from blockbuster movies was due to the fact that he didn't have much luck when he ventured outside of his three hit franchises.

Since then, he’s popped up occasionally rather than staying constantly in the spotlight.

His most recent appearances include Bohemian Rhapsody, voicing Shrek again in specials, and starring in the Netflix series The Pentaverate.

Last year, Saturday Night Live fans were left in hysterics as Mike returned as iconic character Linda Richman for the show's star-studded 50th anniversary.

The comedian, who last played middle-aged Coffee Chat host in 1997, slipped back on her iconic wig and false nails for a new sketch with Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph.

The two women returned as Bronx Beat hosts Betty and Jodi and interviewed Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller, before Linda stormed the stage.

During the skit the character whipped out her famous catchphrases as she complimented the hosts for having skin like 'buttah' before choking back tears after becoming a 'little verklempt'.

Fans were delighted to see the Shrek actor, who was cast member on the show 1989 to 1995, as his iconic character's return 'made their night'.

Taking to X they wrote: 'Mike Myers is still killing it as Linda Richman': 'My favourite SNL character of all time is Linda Richman. Don't ask me why but Mike Myers does a great NY Jewish woman. So when he showed up, it made my night': 'Mike Myers as Linda Richman is still 'buttah'.

Mike previously revealed the character was inspired by his now ex mother-in-law Linda Richman and during an appearance on Inside the Actors Studio said she would goad him into performing the character when they were in public together.
