'We did consider it': Melissa Etheridge reveals she almost used Brad Pitt as a sperm donor for her children
Melissa Etheridge has revealed she considered using Brad Pitt as a sperm donor for two of her children.
The rock singer has two children, Bailey and Beckett, with former partner Julie Cypher, with speculation over who fathered them rife after their births in 1997 and 1998.
While it was later revealed that musician David Crosby was their biological father, Etheridge revealed on Friday that she Pitt, then a close friend, had also been a contender for the the role.

'Actually because he was such a good friend of mine we did consider it,' she told Studio Ten.
At the time the actor was in a relationship with Jennifer Anniston and had no children of his own, which ultimately ruled him out for the role, she added.
'I looked and I saw how badly he wanted children and I thought "I don't want to share this with someone who really wants children because my children don't need another parent.
'They have two.'

Instead Etheridge and film director Cypher called on Crosby who was married and already had children of his own, making him 'perfect' for the role, she added.
Pitt is now father to six children with wife Angelina Jolie.
Etheridge and Cypher announced they were separating in 2000, a year after she gave birth to their second child.

She went on to have a relationship with actress Tammy Lynn Michaels and the pair welcomed twins via an anonymous sperm donor in 2006.
The pair parted ways in 2010, seven years after taking part in a commitment ceremony.
In 2014 she married partner Linda Wallem in California. The pair remain happily married.
