Timothee Chalamet was the butt of the joke in Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo's new promo video for his film Pizza Movie.

On Thursday, Matarazzo, 23, shared a clip to Instagram where he's standing in a park perched high on a hillside overlooking a suburb and yelling about his new comedy - and made sure to get in a dig about Chalamet's opinion on ballet and opera.

'Pizza Movie is an American film that comes out on April 3, 2026,' the actor shouted to viewers about his latest venture, which follows two stoned college students who face an epic hurdle when they must navigate two flights of stairs to retrieve their pizza delivery.

Matarazzo was soon joined by his Pizza Movie co-star Sean Giambrone, 26, who yelled, 'It’s on Hulu, streaming! It’s not in the theaters, we wanted it to be in the theaters, but they said "No!"'

It mimicked a video that 30-year-old Chalamet - who suffered a humiliating loss at the Oscars earlier this month - posted to his Instagram account late last year to plug Marty Supreme.

'Marty Supreme is an American film that comes out on Christmas Day 2025!' Chalamet bellowed from the rooftops.

The camera panned back to show more of the horizon including a Ferris wheel and a huge sphere with 'Marty Supreme Dream Big' written across it.

'Yeah, yeah, whoa!' the Oscar nominee hooted and hollered, waving his arms up high.

But Matarazzo's ribbing didn't end there. Towards the end of his video when it showed the Pizza Movie logo, the former child star - who has played Dustin Henderson on Stranger Things for a decade - was heard saying, 'By the way, we want to be clear that we love the ballet and we love the opera!'

'I don't,' Giambrone responded, which prompted Matarazzo to say in a tongue-in-cheek tone, 'Why would you say that?'

The final exchange was, of course, a dig at Chalamet's controversial comments describing opera and ballet as dying art forms that 'no one cares about anymore.'

Chalamet, who has been dating Kylie Jenner, 28, for three years, brought the subject up while discussing the entertainment industry with actor Matthew McConaughey at a town hall event hosted by CNN and Variety and broadcast on February 21.

'I admire people who go on a talk show and say, "Hey, we’ve got to keep movie theaters alive,"' Chalamet said.

'If people want to see it, like Barbie, like Oppenheimer, they're going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it.

'I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera where it's like, "Hey! Keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore,"' he said, adding that he meant no offense to people who participated in those art forms.

Although Chalamet had some supporters who felt he only meant that ballet and opera weren't part of the mainstream culture, it did its damage.

Even Steven Spielberg shaded the native New Yorker during a panel at the 2026 SXSW Conference and Festival earlier this month, per Variety.

'At the end of a really good movie experience, we are all united with a whole bunch of feelings that we walk into the daylight with, or into the nighttime with,' the Jaws director said.

'And there’s nothing like that. It happens in movies, and in concerts. And it happens in ballet and opera, by the way,' the 79-year-old continued as the audience applauded. 'We want that to be sustained. We want that to go forever.'

Chalamet was also put in an awkward place after a model said that starting a relationship with Jenner shortly after their alleged romance was 'disrespectful.'

Sarah Tena, 32, said she had a relationship with actor Chalamet between 2020 and 2023.

Chalamet has been in a relationship with Jenner, the businesswoman and reality television star who rose to prominence on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, since 2023, and Tena said she believed her connection with Chalamet had been serious and that they had remained in contact until early in the year he got together with the makeup mogul.

According to her account, the final time they saw one another was during a meeting in New York, where she gave him a bracelet similar to a piece she owned.

Their last exchange apparently took place in January 2023, when Tena is said to have wished Chalamet a happy birthday and he liked the message.

Three weeks later Chalamet and Jenner were seen together at Jean Paul Gaultier's Paris Fashion Week show, with reports in April that the pair were 'hanging out.' TMZ later published photographs of Jenner's Range Rover parked outside the actor's home in Beverly Hills.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Tena said she had developed deep feelings for Chalamet during the period they were seeing one another. 'I did get down and a little sad about the whole thing because I was like, "Wow I might not ever see him again," and when I had always felt so sure about him and I and it turned the complete opposite of that.'

Tena added, 'I never thought him and I would stop talking because we had that friendship also. He’s changed.'
