LIV Golf star, who battled drug and alcohol addiction, sends message to Tiger Woods after legend's DUI arrest

LIV Golf star Anthony Kim showed support for Tiger Woods with a strong message following the golf legend's DUI arrest.

Woods, 50, was arrested on Friday afternoon after he tried to overtake a truck and trailer at high speed on a residential Jupiter Island road, clipping the back of the vehicle and tipping his own SUV onto its side.

After clambering out of the passenger side window of his vehicle, Woods refused to give a urine sample to cops and was arrested for DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Kim, who has been publicly open about his own sobriety journey, spoke out on the 15-time major winner's arrest, urging Woods to turn to God.

'Dunno wat @tigerwoods is dealin w & it isn’t my business. As some1 who has & will always deal w my own issues like every other human I pray the man who positively influenced my life and millions of others overcomes wat he is going thru. Trust GOD,' he wrote on X.

'SOBER is DOPE,' he added alongside a flame emoji.

Kim burst onto the global golf scene after turning pro in 2006. He holds the record for most birdies in a round at The Masters (11), is a three-time US PGA Tour winner, and a Ryder Cup champion.

But in 2014, he stopped playing amid drug and alcohol addiction. It took him almost a decade to get clean.

Now sober for three years, the Californian completed a miraculous career comeback in February when he held off the likes of Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Bryson DeChambeau to win the LIV Adelaide title.

'When I was in rehab, that was my goal,' Kim said after hoisting the trophy in Australia.

'So absolutely my goal is to inspire the people that are struggling because I feel like the world needs more of that.'

Kim said his lesson was simple: 'Don't f***ing quit. That's it. Don't f***ing quit.'

Meanwhile, Friday's accident marked the latest in a string of DUI arrests and car crashes for Woods.

Woods was involved in a similar crash in 2021 in California, which shattered his right leg after he was trapped under the vehicle. He needed multiple surgeries in order to recover from his injuries.

He was also previously pictured in a police mugshot in 2017 after being arrested for his first DUI, when police found him slumped in his car in Florida with five drugs in his system, including two painkillers.

Woods, who is currently dating Vanessa Trump, has not given up hope of returning to competitive golf despite the serious injuries he has suffered over the years.

Like Kim, he has been eyeing yet another comeback, competing in the TGL finals on Tuesday just days before his latest accident.

Many had even speculated that he could be making his return to the course at The Masters next month. However, the journey back now seems longer than ever.

Cops released Woods' remarkable mugshot to the public shortly after 10pm, with his eyes puffy and bloodshot in the image. An hour later, he was bonded out and driven away from the jail, as fans and reporters swarmed the car for a glimpse of him.

In photos taken by a Daily Mail photographer, he can be seen looking stony-faced with his lips pursed, before momentarily glancing out of the passenger side window at the gathered masses and disappearing into the night.

At the scene of the accident, Woods passed a breathalyzer test after showing 'triple zeros', but then refused to give a urine sample twice, once on the roadside and then again at the jail.

'He is cooperative, but he was not trying to incriminate himself, so he was careful in what he said and didn't say,' Sheriff Budensiek explained. 'When it came time again for the test, the urine test at the jail, he stopped that.

'On scene, we had [Drug Recognition] experts evaluating him and they believed from on scene that he was not impaired with alcohol, but they believe it was some type of medication or drug. And again, at the jail he cooperated with the breathalyzer, and then the urine [test] he wanted no part in.

'He has a right to refuse that test. There is a statute that he will be charged with for refusing to take that test, but we will never get definitive results as to what he was impaired on at the time of the crash.'
