Addison Rae leads woke young stars supporting Anti-ICE protests four years after fangirling over Trump

Addison Rae has publicly supported immigration amid anti-ICE protests throughout the country four years after she was 'canceled' for fangirling over Trump at a UFC event.

Just a day after sweeping anti-ICE protests sprouted up all over the country, some of music's biggest stars are speaking out.

The protests were both an answer to President Donald Trump's use of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to enact mass deportations in Los Angeles, and Trump's own military-style parade in Washington D.C. on Saturday, his birthday.

Rising music star Addison, 24, took to her Instagram Story on Sunday to promote the National Immigration Law Center (NILC).

She wrote:  'I'm so disappointed and disturbed by what is happening across our nation. This country could not exist without immigrants.

'Every human being deserves the right to exist in an environment that makes them feel safe, lovingly protected, and embraced.'

No doubt that the stand against Trump's policies may come as a shock to many as she was blasted for saying hello to the president in a viral video from July 2021.

In footage uploaded by YouTube channel NELK at the time, Rae was seen approaching the former president as he watched the UFC 264 bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier from his ringside seat.

Rae is seen tapping Trump on his shoulder before introducing herself and shaking his hand.

'Hi! I'm Addison. Nice to meet you. I have to say hi, hello. So nice to meet you,' she says in the footage.

It's not clear what Trump said to her in return.

The greeting caused a stir on social media, fueling speculation among Rae's devout fanbase about her political affiliation - a topic first brought up in 2019 when she was accused of registering to vote as a Republican.

Footage of the encounter divided opinion on social media with the woke Twitter (now X) mob calling for the star from Louisiana to be canceled while others leaped to her defense.

Several Twitter users slammed Rae over the greeting, with comedian and YouTuber Chris Klemens saying she had revealed her political affiliation, writing: 'Oopsies Addison… your Republican is showing.'

Rodrigo, a 22-year-old L.A. native, did not mince words in her Instagram story, opening with, 'I've lived in L.A. my whole life and I'm deeply upset about these violent deportations of my neighbors under the current administration.'

'LA simply wouldn't exist without immigrants. Treating hardworking community members with such little respect, empathy and due process is awful,' she added.

'I stand with the beautiful, diverse community of Los Angeles, and with immigrants all across America,' she added.

'I stand for our right to freedom of speech and freedom to protest,' Rodrigo concluded in her Instagram story post on Saturday.

She added, 'Innocent civilians in Iran are caught in the middle of warfare… Palestinian cries are still being buried in every day media.'

'My thoughts are heavy, my heart follows. It is normal to feel confused & hopeless during this time... But I strongly advise you to never stop paying attention,' she said.

'How can we care about anything else as human freedoms spanning across seas are being violated with such violence?' she asked.
