American Pie actress Natasha Lyonne will star in Stan Original Series Poker Face, which is set to premiere next month. 

The ten episode mystery-of-the-week series will begin airing on the streaming service in Australia on January 27, the same day as the United States. 

The plot follows Charlie Cale, who has the ability to tell when someone has told a lie.

She heads out on the road in her Plymouth Barracuda to help solve some strange crimes.

She's kept on her feet by a string of suspects who try to get away with their dastardly deeds. 

The series boasts an array of guest stars, including Adrien Brody, Chloe Sevigny, Benjamin Bratt, Ellen Barkin, Nick Nolte, Cherry Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Judith Light.

Stan's Chief Content Officer Cailah Scobie said the streaming service devised a strategy to commission premium international original stories to attract a wider audience. 

After the success of The Tourist and Wolf Like Me, Stan are now in a position to create more high-quality content to be streamed outside of Australia.

'Poker Face allows an expansion of our unrivalled lineup of homegrown Stan Originals,' she said. 

From the mind of filmmaker Rian Johnson, the series is distributed globally by Paramount. 

Executive producers include Ram Bergman, Lyonne, Nena Rodrigue and Iain B. MacDonald, alongside Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens.

The Stan Original Series Poker Face premieres 27 January, same day as the U.S. and only on Stan.
