A former Coronation Street star revealed her surprising career change after being killed off - and how it all began with a Google search.

Becky Hindley appeared on the ITV soap during killer John Stape's (Graeme Hawley) storyline in 2010.

Her character Charlotte Hoyle was a fellow teacher who was attracted to John and helped cover up his murder of colleague Colin Fishwick, who he had been impersonating.

Twisted John adopted Colin's identity after he had been forced to leave the teaching profession, following an affair with Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan), who was in sixth form at the time.

With almost two decades having passed since her Corrie exit, Becky - who has also appeared in Casualty and The Bill - took a new direction worlds away from acting.

Speaking on the Conversation Street podcast, she shared: 'Probably about 10 years ago now, I just decided to have a little change.

'I always enjoyed gardening and in between acting jobs I worked in florist shops. I looked on Google to see what I could do, and I found something called Flowers from the Farm, which is a fantastic movement that is basically people growing their own flowers.

'So I thought I'd try that. I set up my business and I used to do weddings, and events.

'Now I don't do any of that, now what I do is, I love going for walks and finding things and make things out of those. I do workshops with that, and I do workshops with my gardens.

'A cutting garden and I grow my own flowers, people can come and join me for a cup of tea and a piece of cake.

'We have a chat, and they pick flowers and it's a very nice experience.'

Elsewhere, Becky also addressed her experience working on Coronation Street - including her reaction to Charlotte being killed off.

She revealed: 'It was very, very different and to be part of such an iconic soap like Coronation Street was a real joy.

' I knew a few people on it, not many, but everyone welcomed you with opened arms and it was really lovely.

'I was a little bit disappointed that I died. It would've been nice to have come back but they had my funeral and everything like that.

'I would have been very happy for it to go on for another couple of years.'

Ultimately, Charlotte met her end during the soap's 50th anniversary celebrations in late 2010.

She had been blackmailing John over his murderous secrets but he refused to leave wife Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) for her.

An enraged Charlotte attempted to attack John with a hammer - before threatening to expose John's lies to Fiz.

Ensuring this couldn't happen, the villain hit fatally her over the head with the hammer.

But as John went to call emergency services,  the Joinery Bar exploded and he passed off Charlotte as one of the victims.

Charlotte was later declared brain dead in hospital, with her life support subsequently switched off.

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
