A quick-thinking elderly man was involved in a nasty brawl with two 'dark-skinned' men after they broke into his home Monday night.
The 78-year-old Western Australian man defended himself and hit one of the intruding men with a curtain rod after he woke to a 'loud noise' at about 10pm according to WA Today.
The burglars took the elderly man's walking stick and assaulted him with it, before he fell to the ground.
The two men fled the scene.
The elderly man of Nulsen, north-west of Esperance Western Australia, was treated for minor injuries at Esperance Hospital.
