Lindsey Vonn shows love is a great healer as she sports knee brace in public for the first time watching Tiger play at The Masters
True golf fans were paying attention to Fred Couples as he lead the Master's Tournament, the rest of the crowd were busy starring at Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn.
The athlete-turned-girlfriend of Tiger Woods drew even more attention today during the second round of the tournament because she was wearing a pair of white shorts.
Sporting shorts at a golf event is far from astonishing but it was also the first time that Vonn has been seen publicly while wearing the knee brace that is helping her recover from her staggering injury.
Making the rounds: Lindsey Vonn wore shorts while watching boyfriend Tiger Woods play at the second day of the Masters tournament, revealing her brace that she has to wear after her February knee injury
Face in the crowd: Vonn was seen watching alongside Tiger as he played the first hole and then watched at the green on the ninth and 18th holes of Augusta National
Support: Her physical therapist Lindsay Winninger (in the green shorts) accompanied Vonn on Friday
The 28-year-old Olympian injured her left knee during a downhill event in Schlamding, Austria in February.
It was just weeks after the accident when she publicly stepped out as Tiger Woods' new flame, as the golfer is thought to have flown his private plane to Austria in order to give Vonn and her entourage a lift back to the U.S. for surgery.
Shortly after the surgery, she held interviews confidently predicting that she would be back, ready to ski in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
In the meantime, she has apparently been soothing her spirits by spending time with Tiger.
Spectacle: Her attendance caused a commotion among the crowd of golf enthusiasts
Walk it off: Vonn injured her knee at an event in Austria and has undergone surgery, but she says that she will be fully recovered in time to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics
She was seen following him around Augusta National on Friday, during the second round of the famed tournament.
As Tiger focused largely on the game at hand, Vonn was accompanied by her physical therapist Lindsay Winninger when they were able to muster the strength to watch him play.
She hobbled down the first fairway with her injured right knee in a brace to watch him play, and then turned up later behind both the ninth and 18th greens to watch her man putt out. The photographers had a field day.
Sporty versus stylish: On Friday, Conn wore an Under Armour polo and white baseball cap (left) but on Thursday she opted for a maxi dress and a far less athletic wide-rim hat (right)
Tough shot: Though this must have been at a difficult moment on the fourth hole, Tiger actually did well on Friday and was among the leaders in the storied tournament
Hoping for a comeback: Woods' play at this year's tournament has been described as 'solid'
Vonn would be the daredevil half of just about any relationship. But her presence here served as one more reminder that for all of Woods' reckless behavior off the course in years past, he still knows how to play cautiously when the situation demands it.
While Vonn’s injury kept her from walking the entire course, there were two other leading ladies who kept fans interested when she wasn’t around.
Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki was seen watching her boyfriend Rory McIlroy. She has been a constant presence on the course during the tournament.
Another blonde athlete: Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki was on hand to support her boyfriend Rory McIlroy
Ladylike: Wozniacki has worn sundresses throughout the tournament and accessorized with a Chanel purse
All smiles: The 22-year-old tennis champ seemed at home on the sidelines
Tender moment: McIlroy and Wozniacki stole a quick kiss on Thursday
The similarities between the Vonn-Woods pairing and that of McIlroy and Wozniacki have not been missed by commentators, as the two blondes are both athletes in their own right.
While Vonn opted for sporty gear on Friday- wearing an Under Armour polo shirt- Wozniacki chose a more ladylike look, with a black sundress that matched the ribbon on her white fedora. She finished her look with a Chanel purse.
The most dressed down of the supporting WAGS was Paulina Gretsky, the daughter of famed hockey star Wayne and girlfriend of golfer Dustin Johnson.
Primping: Paulina Gretsky, the daughter of famed hockey player Wayne, was at the golf tournament to support her boyfriend Dustin Johnson
Unenthused: Ms Gretsky did not seem to be enjoying the tournament, maybe because Johnson was trailing
Dressing up: On Thursday (pictured), Gretsky was even more dressed down than she was on Friday
She wore her blonde locks up in a ponytail, a lose cream tank top, and brown cropped jeans, accessorizing only with a pair of aviators.
Though her look may have some of the more traditional attendees at the storied country club running to make complaints about her casual dress, it is a step up from the low-cut tank top and tight-fitting white jeans that she wore on the first day on Thursday.
So far, the presence of the WAGs only seems to have helped Woods as he is leading among the three golfers in question. Towards the end of play on Friday he was -2 for the day and -3 overall, slipping slightly from his lead earlier in the day.
