Who’s that getting married? Karen’s TV bridal dress for sale
A wedding dress worn by Hollywood star Karen Gillan in Doctor Who is on sale at an auction.
The strapless white bridal gown was worn by Ms Gillan’s character Amy Pond in the hit BBC sci-fi series.
The flame-haired actress, who was born in Inverness, wore the dress in a 2010 episode called The Big Bang when she married Rory Williams, played by Arthur Darvill.
Described as ‘a white tulle and satin Ben de Lisi wedding dress, in size 10’, it forms part of auction house Propstore’s sale of memorabilia from 20 years of Doctor Who.
The sale runs until Thursday, with 20 per cent of the hammer proceeds donated to BBC Children In Need.
Other lots in the auction include a sonic screwdriver used by David Tennant when he returned as the 14th Doctor.
Ms Gillan, 38, landed the part of Doctor Who’s assistant in 2010 and appeared in three series of the show before leaving in 2013 for Hollywood, where she went on to star in blockbusters such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji.
In 2022 she had a real-life wedding when she married American comedy writer Nick Kocher at Castle Toward, near Dunoon in Argyll.

Last year, Ms Gillan claimed financial barriers are stopping more people like her from becoming actors.
She has first-hand knowledge of the issue having passed an audition for a performing arts academy in London at age 16, only for her parents to be unable to afford the fees.
But she later made her own way to the top and shot to fame in 2010 in Doctor Who.
She has since helped establish a scholarship scheme for students at a performing arts academy in her hometown of Inverness.
