RHONY star Erin Lichy sparks outrage for urging women to 'secretly' get pregnant: 'This is horrific'

Real Housewives of New York star Erin Lichy has been slammed for her controversial family advice, suggesting women to 'forget' to take the pill if they want to have a baby.

The 38-year-old reality star was answering questions on Instagram when someone asked her about how to deal with having a different timeline from your partner when it comes to having children.

'Advice for being on different timelines when having kids with husband,' the Instagram user asked.

'This is probs not PC but just "forget" to take your pill. Oopsie!' she wrote in the answer.

'Ok, I mean, if it's a serious reason like he has to move for work or he has a health issue idk then fine but if he's just stalling just to have sexy time and make it happen lol,' she continued.

'Humans have been doing it for centuries,' she added.

But followers were horrified by the response, calling out Lichy, who shares four children with husband Abe.

'Admitting to this in the year of 2026 is crazy,' one appalled X, formerly Twitter, user wrote alongside a screenshot of the Instagram story.

'Now wtf is this,' wrote someone else.

'Not the girlies endorsing reproductive coercion on main,' wrote someone else.

'This is horrific advice and she should've kept it to herself,' slammed someone else.

Lichy has since told the Daily Mail: 'I was responding to a woman who asked about her specific situation with her husband, and my reply was meant in a light, playful context, not as general advice.

'There is never a perfect time to have a baby, and I was simply acknowledging how complicated that decision can feel for couples.

'I would never condone or promote any form of coercion. As a mother of three boys and someone who takes this topic seriously, I'm sorry if my words were misunderstood or caused offense. That was never my intention.'

Lichy has been married to her husband since 2012. They share sons, Levi, 10, Elijah, five, and Jack Hunter, born in March 2025, as well as daughter, Layla, eight.

'I'm begging him to get a vasectomy,' Lichy previously said about her 42-year-old husband.

As much as Lichy loves being a parent, she announced she's done having kids after the birth of her fourth child.

Speaking with Us Weekly to promote her book, She's a Host: An Unbuttoned Cookbook for Elegant Entertaining, last year, the reality star said her family feels 'complete,' and that she's 'done' having kids.

Lichy is no stranger to facing criticism online. In April last year, the cookbook author faced backlash for letting her baby's head 'dangle' as she made a martini in a TikTok video.

'Oh my god the baby's head is just dangling whilst she's making a martini on Tiktok. priorities girl,' posted one concerned social media user.

Someone else wrote, 'Tell a friend to tell a friend how to hold an infant,' while another added, 'I am normally the last person to judge other people's parenting, as mine is not exactly everyone's cup of tea, but honey, hold his head up. That's ridiculous.'

The mom-of-four hit back, 'Looks worse than it is promise lol,' later adding, 'Also HIS HEAD WAS SUPPORTED. was leaning down a little but like, calm your t**s. It was a 5 second video.'
