SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Sadie Frost, one-time queen of the hedonistic Primrose Hill set, celebrates birthday with 20-calorie slice of ‘cake’
Sadie Frost was once queen of the hedonistic Primrose Hill set, which included then-husband Jude Law and supermodel Kate Moss, but it appears she’s now mellowing with age.
To celebrate her 53rd birthday yesterday, the former model hosted an abstemious gathering at her home in North London. Rather than tucking into a sugary confection, the health-conscious brunette was presented with a watermelon carved into the shape of a cake. And instead of icing, it was decorated with berries and flowers containing only about 20 calories a slice.
Joined by her children Rafferty, 21, Iris, 17 and Rudy, 15, she wrote online: ‘Thanks to my family for making this yummy birthday tea. Today was my day with my kids . . . and a few bosom buddies.’

Anti-Brexit novelist Ian McEwan talks about the majority of voters in this country as if they were an alien nation. ‘I’m very much a Remainer, but I think it would be more interesting to write something from the other point of view,’ the Atonement author declares loftily. ‘I could easily inhabit the mind of a passionate Brexiteer, I think I understand enough about it. The air is thick with disastrous possibilities and I don’t know how a novelist can ignore them.’
Actor Christopher Eccleston, who claimed recently he had been blacklisted by the BBC after clashing with Doctor Who bosses, has seen reserves in his company plummet by almost £600,000.
Newly published accounts for his company, B’Lung! Ltd, show the balance sheet has tipped from £700,000 — to less than £110,000 in 12 months.
The company, which channels the 54-year-old’s earnings, once held profits of almost £1 million. Eccleston has previously admitted he took a role in Marvel’s Thor sequel ‘primarily . . . for the money’.
Baby-faced children's TV pin-up to be a dad at 45
TV host Tim Vincent is still remembered as the perennially youthful bachelor from Blue Peter, so it has come as a surprise to many when he revealed this week that he’s becoming a first-time father at the age of 45.
The Welsh-born broadcaster, who swapped the UK for Hollywood more than ten years ago and has now returned to London, confirmed the news by posting a picture of himself with the mother-to-be, TV producer Gemma Charles, on social media. ‘The lovely lady who has made all this possible AND is amazing AND I am head over heels with is Gemma. She will even pose for a picture with me despite the fact I am sunburnt.’
