Melanie Sykes poses topless as she reveals she's 'off to have a mammogram' following her own mother's breast cancer battle
Melanie Sykes did her good deed of the day when she posted a topless snap on Instagram on Tuesday in order to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Her image caption let her fans know that she was going for a check-up to make sure all was well with her breasts, given that her own mother had survived the disease.
The 47-year-old wrote: 'I’m off to have a mammogram and ultrasound today. My mother survived breast cancer so it’s important that I get regular checks.

'It’s a crazy fact that in the UK 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer at some point in their lives.'
Melanie also revealed in the post that one of the reasons she keeps so fit is to try to prevent getting the cancer.
She said: 'Being active and getting your heart rate up for 20 minutes a day you are helping to prevent your risk of developing the disease.

'I am in my tenth year of keeping fit now and I have always said it was and is an investment in my health and future.'
Inspiring others to get involved, she concluded: 'So to get you all revved up @BreastCancerUK virtual #50kmyway is a great way to build up a fitness habit.
'You can break it up with as many runs, jogs and walks as you need over the month of June.
'Tell your mums, sisters and girlfriends, better still sign up with them today and together get moving.'
Melanie recently sang the praises of keeping in shape, telling Health & Wellbeing magazine: 'Fitness keeps me mentally happy, and it's an investment into my old age.
'Starting training in my 30s has definitely paid off in my 40s, and I'm hoping to keep myself fit and healthy with the right foods and exercise so that I have energy and am content into my later years.'
Meanwhile, Mel was wearing a ring on her engagement finger in the snap, but it was purely for decorative purposes.
