The sporting family welcomed their first son James in December 2014, and married in Catherine's native Texas in 2012.
In February 2015 however, the family were struck by tragedy when Nick's younger sister Madeleine lost her five-year battle with a rare bone marrow condition aged just 26.
Catherine took to Instagram to share a loving tribute to her sister-in-law, thanking her for 'for teaching me every possible fact about the AFL and for giving my husband the inspiration to live his life to the fullest every day'.

'It would have been great to have her in that room. That’s definitely one of the hardest things.'
The family later established a charitable foundation for their sister, calling it Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision.
