Teyana Taylor is walking back her initial claim that Leonardo DiCaprio was chatting with her during a now-viral moment at the 2026 Golden Globes.
While appearing on The Tonight Show on Wednesday night, the star, 35, admitted that the animated exchange that went viral on TikTok did not, in fact, involve her after all.
'Yesterday, I thought I broke the Da Vinci Code,' Taylor joked, referencing an earlier interview in which she believed DiCaprio was speaking to her during the show.
Taylor explained that she initially assumed the Oscar winner was reacting to her excitement over KPop Demon Hunters after it won Best Motion Picture (Animated) and Best Original Song.
'When I first saw it, I didn't watch the whole thing,' she admitted. 'I was like, "Oh, you're talking about *KPop Demon Hunters" - he's talking about me.'
But after rewatching the clip and seeing online lip-reading speculation, Taylor decided to clear things up - directly with DiCaprio himself.

'I had to call Leo,' she said. 'I was like, "You can't be talking to me - were you talking to me?" Because I already told people you was talking to me.'
According to Taylor, DiCaprio revealed he had more than one KPop Demon Hunters conversation that night and couldn't even remember who the exchange was actually with.
'He was like, "I don't even know,"' she laughed, adding that she jokingly accused him of "kekeing" with someone else in their signature expressive style.
The moment went viral after DiCaprio was seen laughing, gesturing wildly and clapping during a commercial break, prompting widespread speculation online about who had him so bubbly.
Taylor had previously told Access Hollywood that the two were chatting about the film and her daughters, Iman 'Junie' Tayla Shumpert Jr., 10, and Rue Rose Shumpert, 5 - but now says the clip simply caught DiCaprio mid-conversation with someone else nearby.
The buzz came during a banner night for Taylor and DiCaprio's film One Battle After Another, which picked up four Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), while Taylor won for her performance as Perfidia Beverly Hills. Both stars are also nominated at the upcoming Actor Awards on March 1.
DiCaprio's unexpectedly lively demeanor sparked multiple viral moments throughout the ceremony - including an exchange with Julia Roberts, where he was photographed repeatedly mouthing, 'That's star power!'
Fans also delighted in seeing the famously private actor react to host Nikki Glaser, who roasted his dating history during her sharp opening monologue.

After applauding DiCaprio’s glittering career, Glaser went straight for the jugular, poking fun at his well-documented taste for younger women as he currently dates Italian supermodel Vittoria Ceretti, 27.
‘The most impressive thing is that you’ve been able to accomplish all of this before your girlfriend turned 30,’ she quipped.
Cameras immediately cut to DiCaprio, whose sheepish, visibly uncomfortable reaction quickly became the moment everyone was talking about.
He even offered up an awkward thumbs up.
Glaser swiftly followed up with an apology for the ‘cheap’ joke, admitting the famously private actor rarely gives the public much to work with beyond his dating history.
She then capped off the roast by asking whether ‘pasta, pasta, and more pasta’ was still his favorite food - a nod to a teen magazine interview from the ’90s - prompting an amused ‘Yes’ from DiCaprio as the crowd erupted.
Ceretti, who first sparked romance rumors with DiCaprio in 2023, did not accompany him to the Golden Globes.
