The Loose Women lost their minds when a music legend gatecrashed the ITV set for a 'first of its kind' appearance.

The panellists were hosting a 25-hour 'Talkathon' episode to marks 25 years of the talk show being on our screens as part of ITV and STV's Britain Get Talking campaign.

From Thursday evening through to the usual show on Friday, they covered taboo subjects around mental health and shared personal stories to tackle stigmas and raise awareness by doing what they do best - talking.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 47, joined the Loose Women on Thursday night when Charlene White brought him and Jamie Oliver out as a surprise.

Both men shared their own stories about mental health and gave advice on what they do to look after their own.

Chris shared one technique which he he uses every morning and can be done in just 12 minutes.

He said: 'This is a good mental health thing, for real. You take a piece of paper and a pen for 12 minutes every day and you write down everything that's bothering you and then you rip it up, throw it away or burn it.

'It's a great way of working out whats going on with you and releasing things that you would really like to say but cant and it sort of cleans everything

'I do it every morning and it's a miracle.

'Rather than texting someone angrily or being aggressive at work it sort of gets it all out of you.

'Then if there is still something bothering you at the end then you can say that calmly.'

Reflecting on what Chris had shared, Coleen Nolan later said: 'He writes things he has been worried about or things he may be angry about and he writes them all down and gets it all out of his system.

'Then he can carry on his day or go to sleep at night because he doesn't keep it all in, he writes it all down. He's actually amazing.'

The special show raised money for mental health charities Mind, YoungMinds and Scottish Action for Mental Health, so they can continue to run their helplines and services.

Loose Women airs on ITV1 weekdays at 12.30pm and on ITVX
