Experts reveal the key to knowing where house prices are soaring next - should YOU sell your home?

Shrewd homeowners could make themselves overnight millionaires if they get ahead of the curve in an up-and-coming area, property experts have revealed.

While it's little surprise selling a home for more than you bought it will land you with a tidy profit, the tricky part has always been judging where prices will rise.

Yet now MailOnline can reveal the areas that have jumped in value over the past year on record - as experts offered their insight on where could be the best places to sell in next the few months.

From Solihull to Croydon, exclusive analysis from the Online Marketing Surgery and Cardinal Steels of ONS data has exposed both the best and worst places to sell homes if you want to turn a profit.

The median prices in some areas increased as much as 85 per cent in a single year from March 2023 to March 2024, while others fell a whopping 50 per cent.

Meanwhile, senior valuer Max Royston from property firm Gaffsy said the key to spotting the next trendy area was looking at neighbouring villages of places that are currently winning big.

He said: 'If you get it right, you can make a lot of money. But I wouldn't say it's easy. The risk is that you overpay.'

The property chief said improved transport links and options to work from home had given people a greater ability to live elsewhere, which in turn was fuelling new hubs of growing prices.

However, despite the pitfalls, if done correctly, he said, 'there's a lot of money to be made'.

Here, MailOnline can reveal the best (and worst) places to buy a house...
