A female high school student chased another female classmate with a knife, terrifying video footage posted to social media shows.
The chaotic scene unfolded at Denby High School on Kelly Road in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday.
The video, apparently taken by another student in the class, shows two girls arguing.
Seconds later, the girl allegedly armed with a knife charged at the other student, who ran around the perimeter of the classroom trying to get away, knocking over desks in the process.
It's clear from the footage that the alleged attacker had an object in her hand as she chased the student. School officials later said it was a box cutter.
The student managed to run out of the classroom. The other girl, still hot on her tail, arrived at the door but was blocked by the teacher, who held a chair in front of her to block her exit.
The box cutter fell to the ground as the girl tried to get around the chair, which she eventually did.
No one was injured throughout the course of the incident, and student who was allegedly responsible for the attack was arrested, according to school officials.

'A student brought a boxcutter to school today and attempted to attack another student. There were no injuries associated with the incident,' the school said in a statement to FOX 2.
'The student has been arrested and will not be returning to Denby or another district school. Additional police presence will be at the school tomorrow.'
As of Wednesday night, the student was not in custody.
As of now, it is unclear what led to the confrontation. The Detroit Police Department has opened an investigation.
