The couple wed in 1980 following the collapse of Hoffman's first, 11-year marriage to Anne Byrne, with whom he shares three children.
The actor has welcomed a further four children with Lisa; their oldest, Jake Hoffman, followed his father into the film industry and recently appeared in Martin Scorcese's epic Netflix film The Irishman.

Lisa has stayed by her husband's side amid allegations of sexual harassment from an array of women.
Anna Graham Hunter claimed that he made a series of sexually inappropriate remarks to her when she was a 17-year-old intern working on his 1985 TV film Death of a Salesman.
Another woman named Wendy Riss Gatsiounis said that the veteran actor peppered her with sexually-fueled questions when she met with him over a show business project in 1991.

Gatsiounis told Variety that Hoffman asked her to come with him to a hotel, trying to seduce her with the prospect of 'a whole new body to explore.'
In the wake of the allegations, Hoffman issued a statement disavowing the conduct described by the women.
He said: 'I have the utmost respect for women and feel terrible that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation. I am sorry. It is not reflective of who I am.'
