Chanel Iman didn't know Fyre Festival documentaries existed...as model says she was kept 'in the dark'
Chanel Iman says she found out about the Fyre Festival documentaries while browsing through Netflix.
The 28-year-old model, who may be subpoenaed to give evidence on it, said on Wednesday she 'saw the documentary on Netflix just flipping through and I said, "I didn’t know there was a documentary",' she told People.
'Like, I’ve kind of just been in the dark the whole time.'
Speaking out: Chanel Iman said she found out about the Fyre Festival documentaries while browsing through Netflix
Netflix’s Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened and Hulu’s Fyre Fraud tell the unbelievable story behind the doomed music festival, which was supposed to be held on a desert island in the Bahamas.
Iman was among the IMG models hired to promote the festival, who are now facing subpoenas to disclose the amount of money paid to them by organizer Billy McFarland.
She appeared in a glossy promo video alongside the likes of Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, and Emily Ratajkowski, in which they frolicked on the island — including with some wild boars.
'To be a part of the whole Fyre Festival commercial, we had no idea what was going to happen. We were all told the same exact thing as everybody else was told,' she said to People.

'I don’t like going to that island to see those pigs cause they really, really will bite you,' she added. 'If you see the Hulu documentary I am like running, I am jumping in the boat because I don’t want anything to do with getting bit or getting hurt by the pigs.
'I know a lot of the girls are picking up the pigs, holding them, but like it just wasn’t something that I wanted to do.'
Iman said she and now-husband Sterling Shepard had a narrow escape, when they decided not to go to the festival itself — although she did not say what changed their minds.

'I was actually on my way to the Fyre Festival because they had promised the talent that we all could have tickets and villas,' she said the magazine.
'So my flight was booked to the Fyre Festival. And thank god me and Sterling didn’t hop on a flight because that was in our plans. We would have been stuck with everyone else,' she continued.
'I think it was very frustrating because we were looking forward to something that didn’t happen,' according to People.
