Love Island's Dr Alex George signs up to stand in for Dr Hilary Jones on GMB... as he gushes over his passion for medicine, health and wellbeing
Love Island star Doctor Alex has joined the Good Morning Britain team as guest Health Editor, it was announced on Friday.
Following his stint on the dating show last month, in which he garnered a huge number of fans due to his unlucky-in-love mishaps, the doctor has now scooped the job filling in for Dr hilary jones next week.
Speaking about the exciting news, he said: 'Next week Dr Hilary is away, the fantastic Dr Hilary, so I’m very excited to say that I’m going to be stepping into his very big shoes for the week, and doing my very best. I’m really excited!'

Alex's appearance on Love Island saw him suffer repeated blows to his dating life however he managed to come out on top due to his goofy ways.
He will not be returning to ITV screens to stand in for the veteran TV doctor while he takes a summer break from the breakfast show.
Further touching on his new role, Dr Alex said: 'I’m really look forward to it. I’m very passionate about my job, I love medicine, I love health and wellbeing, I’m really excited to have that opportunity to talk about topics...
'I’m passionate about the job. Of course I’m going to be going back to the NHS, but in the meantime, I really hope that I can use the platform that I have to talk about things that are topical and effect people in everyday life...

'Particularly the younger generation - things relating to sexual health, mental health, body image… all kind of topics that I’d really like to discuss and talk to young people about.'
Last month, the star, who currently works in the A&E department of University Hospital Lewisham, revealed that he would love to follow in the footsteps of fellow ITV medics Dr Hilary Jones and Dr Chris Steele.
Discussing how he would love go back to his day job, he said: 'I absolutely love my job and whilst I was away I started missing it in a lot of ways, and every now and again we’d talk about medicine in the villa and I’d love all that.
