'It's not like I had to learn to do a roundhouse kick': Stephen Amell admits physical training for his movie debut in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 was more laid-back compared to lead role in Arrow
He is the hunky star best known for his portrayal of masked crime fighter Oliver Queen in the popular TV series, Arrow.
So it comes as no surprise that Stephen Amell would be cast as hockey stick wielding vigilante, Casey Jones, in the latest Ninja Turtles reboot - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows.
But unlike his muscle flaunting TV role, the Toronto-reared star told the Daily Mail Australia his workout routine was more laid-back for the new action flick.

‘I had to learn a couple of fight sequences,’ the 35-year-old said ahead of the premiere of the film in Sydney.
‘Casey is a brawler so it's not like I had to learn how to do a round house kick.
‘I just wanted to make sure it was different enough to a lot of the fights that I do on Arrow and it kind of rounded out that way.’

And while speaking about the blockbuster, Stephen said he was thrilled to star alongside Megan Fox (who plays reporter April O'Neil) and Will Arnett (who plays cameraman Vernon Fenwick) in the second installment of the action flick.
It also appears the directors and producers were ecstatic for the Arrow actor to join the star-studded cast.
'I read the script a bunch and then the first scene that I shot was a pretty pivotal scene for my character,' Stephen said.
'It's when I meet the turtles for the first time. So you know, once we found out that my instinct was on point and what the producers and directors wanted for the movie - everything just flowed from there.’

Stephen admitted to the Daily Mail Australia he had some bruises caused by his performances, but hasn't had any major injuries.
'I've had bumps and bruises, but knock on wood I haven't had any injuries yet,' he said.
Although Stephen has reaped praise for his cinema role, breaking into Hollywood wasn't so easy for the hunky star.

After wrapping up the fourth season, Stephen has confirmed that he will return to the show for a fifth season.
‘I'm on my 100th episode,' he said.
‘[The show] It's good. I'm on hiatus right now, but I'm very busy promoting Turtles.'
