Married At First Sight star Martha Kalifatidis reveals she was at the 'lowest point of her life' during her debilitating pregnancy: 'It was dark, it was depressing'
Martha Kalifatidis has revealed she was at the 'lowest point of her life' when she was pregnant with her first child, Lucius.
The Married At First Sight star and her fiance Michael Brunelli welcomed their son in February this year.
Speaking on the KICBUMP podcast, Marta opened up about the darker side of her pregnancy, detailing her severe battle with debilitating pregnancy sickness hyperemesis gravidarum (HG).
'HG, it's no laughing matter. When you're in the midst of it, you are so sick that you'd give anything to escape it. It's so hard to revisit those moments,' ' Martha said.
'I remember being so sick, thinking "I will never forget this, this is the lowest point of my life".'

While Martha has never suffered from depression before, she said the emotional toll of the pregnancy was immense.
'This pregnancy, it was the lowest, it was dark, it was depressing,' she revealed.
'It doesn't end until you have the baby. Mentally and physically it just gets you at both ends,' she added.

It comes after Martha admitted she feared she was 'starving' her newborn son Lucius after the baby refused to eat for weeks.
'Lucius was born with jaundice, so he didn't eat for like, the first four weeks of his life' she told Nine Honey earlier this month.
'He lost a lot of weight. That was for me the most stressful thing that I was stressing and obsessing over.'

Martha went on: 'He wasn't gaining weight, and he didn't hit his birth weight for almost four weeks.
'As a mum you're just like, 'Oh my God, is this baby starving? What am I doing.''
Luckily Lucius, now three months old, began feeding properly and has since reached his target weight.
