The Sisters Grimm (2025 series): Trailer, certificate and where to watch
Animated adaptation of the American children's books about two magical sisters
Year: 2025
Certificate: pg
There's a wonderful storybook quality to Apple's six-part animated series, which has been lovingly adapted from the American author Michael Buckley's magical book series. The premise is that, when two sisters' parents vanish, the New York-dwelling girls move in with their grandmother - a woman they'd been told was dead - and discover that they are, in fact, descended from the brothers Grimm, and that their new home town of Ferryport Landing is filled with storybook creatures.
Those creatures dwell just beneath the cosy surface of Ferryport, and fans of fairytales will spot a lot of Easter eggs as Sabrina and Daphne arrive in town. Will it be a place that cynical older sister Sabrina (voiced by Modern Family's Ariel Winter) can rediscover the joy in life that her sweet sibling Daphne still sees? Is their grandmother hiding anything? And are their parents truly gone forever?
Magical with a strong streak of creepy shot through its storybook spine, The Sisters Grimm is one of those shows that should appeal to children both young and old. (Six episodes)
