In a US drama based on the true story of an Italian doctor who lost 12 years of his memory, Molly Parker stars as Dr Amy Larsen, who has a car accident then wakes up - having lost her memories from the past eight years and believing she's still married to the love of her life and living a perfect family existence.

Now though, sadly, neither of those things are true and Amy has to come to terms with that, navigating her new life in a series that blends slick medical mysteries with a love triangle and the bigger, overarching story of a woman who is a mystery to herself.

As you'd infer from that, Doc has more layers than the average medical drama, certainly when it comes to its main character. You want to root for Amy because she's a victim but, as you learn more about her, you see how truly flawed she often was in her past forgotten life. It was a fascinating challenge for Emmy nominee Parker to navigate as a performer - the House Of Cards star kept a map of cue cards on the wall of her trailer so she could keep track of what her character knows in the scenes from the past and the present.

It's gone down solidly in the US and the latest second series keeps up the standard of what has gone before, opening with Amy struggling to trust her memories and the hospital staff dealing with the aftermath of a train crash. (Two series)
