Elvis: Trailer, certificate and where to watch
Austin Butler is the dynamite star in a biopic about the King's rise and fall
Year: 2022
Certificate: 12
There have been some great musical biopics in recent years (not least Bohemian Rhapsody) but Moulin Rouge! director Baz Luhrmann's look at the life and times of Elvis Presley is undoubtedly one of the best. A sexually charged feast of over-the-top visuals and larger-than-life characters, it charts Presley's life from his days as a penniless kid in the Deep South music industry as well as his descent into drug addiction and obesity.
Austin Butler is amazing (and BAFTA-winning) as Presley, radiating weapons-grade charisma during the blistering musical performances, and even receiving the endorsement of Elvis's late daughter, Lisa Marie, for his performance - but Tom Hanks is intriguing here too. He plays against type as the Machiavellian Colonel Tom Parker, the man who made and then arguably broke Elvis. (159 minutes)
