Jury Duty: Trailer, certificate and where to watch
Innovative mockumentary series about a most unusual jury trial
Year: 2023
Certificate: 15
This US comedy series takes the mockumentary format to a new level, and unless you fully understand the concept it's hard to appreciate. Jury Duty follows a trial from the inside, the catch being that every participant except one is an actor - that sole normal person is Ronald Gladden, a solar panel specialist from San Diego.
Ronald is a cheery everyman, and has no idea that this whole thing is a set-up. To be fair, everyone around him plays it fairly straight, even the famous actor James Marsden, who portrays himself as a vain and selfish movie star who twists the legal proceedings to suit himself. The first episode has a lot of laughs and feels a little like The US Office, and while it settles into something apparently gentler after that, this is a show that is always capable of surprising you, so give it at least three episodes to bed in.
There is, after a long delay, a new series of this on the way - set at a corporate retreat. (Eight episodes)
