Cult comedy challenge show gets junior spin-off

Was it Picasso who said that the best creatives are children? Well, this youngster Taskmaster spin-off seems to prove it. Ever-ingenious solutions to tasks as daunting as they are silly are on display here, taken up by the competitors ranging from age nine to 11.
The usual host Greg Davies is dethroned. In his place are Taskmistress Rose Matafeo and her moustachioed wingman Mike Wozniak - with a lot less swearing.
One task, for example, challenges the kids to place various objects into a topless top hat worn by a man sitting on a rotating disk. The catch: they are not allowed to walk in the surrounding zone. Some create makeshift bridges out of bricks. Others pull the hat towards them with a litter picker and get the objects in that way. Genius!
So do not be fooled. This is no watered-down version of the parent show, though it may be wet behind the ears. The spin-off brings something fresh to the format and the youngsters are every bit as entertaining as the professional comics - and an awful lot more endearing too. (Eight episodes)
