The Spice Girls' Mel B has been seen for the first time as part of the star-studded line-up Squid Game: VIP Challenge after bagging a big money Netflix deal.

The singer is among the famous faces taking part in the new reality format spin-off of the popular Korean drama Squid Game.

Releasing a first-look trailer, the streaming giant confirmed that Mel, 50, will be a part of the celerity panel, including Khloe Kardashian's ex Tristan Thompson, Zac Effron's brother Dylan and former Real Housewives star Kim Zolciak

The line-up is completed by telly real estate broker Ryan Serhant, influencer Kristy Scott, The Bachelor's Hannah Godwin and former Squid Game stand out player 152, LJ 'Viper' Glanton.

The trailer sees Mel in head-to-toe leopard print, holding a golden mask over her face like the famous VIPs in the original series, revealing her identity.

Squid Game: VIP Challenge will see contestants tasked with a series of physical and strategic challenges, overseen by the celebrity VIPs.

Reacting to the trailer after it was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, fans went wild over the line-up - saying they were 'so hyped' for the series.

One wrote under the video: 'Mel B in Squid Game VIP?? With Tristan Thompson in the cast this is gonna be pure chaos lmao I’m so hyped! Who else is gonna binge?'

Another chimed in: 'This cast is either going to be absolutely chaotic television or a masterpiece. There is no in between with celebrity reality shows.'

A third continued: 'Oh, this gonna be good and messy,' as a fourth wrote: 'Exciting ensemble for Squid Game The VIP Challenge!'

However, not everyone was impressed - with others confused as to why the fan-favourite format had to be re-imagined with a celebrity panel.

One said: 'Why does every reality/game show have to be “celebrity” nowadays…' as another fumed: 'Celebrity game shows are getting to be tired.'

The original Squid Game series saw 456 fictional players facing financial hardship go through a series of deadly challenges - shot upon failure - in order to win a cash prize.

It was re-imagined into a non-deadly reality format that saw real-life contestants battling to win $4.56million (£3.6million).

Starting out with 456 people, the group are slowly whittled down through the sudden-death style challenges, that see contestants 'killed' if they fail to complete them.

New twists and turns are expected in the new series, with sources telling The Sun: 'There are massive changes afoot this series and the celebs being brought in will really turn the whole game on its head.

'Mel B is incredibly active and Tristan still plays basketball competitively, while Dylan is renowned for being a thrill seeker.

'They all arrived at filming in secret, meaning their addition to the game was a big shock for contestants. Most have paid at least £100k to take part.'

It comes after contestants on Netflix's reality gameshow Squid Game: The Challenge opened up on the gruelling behind-the-scenes as it returned for a second series.

After a huge public demand for more after its initial release on Netflix last year, new episodes have hit the streaming service this week, with more to follow next week.

And the upcoming four episodes have been teased to include shock new twists and never-before-seen games that will push the contestants to their limits.

While unlike the original drama series, which sees players murdered as part of the twisted action, the game is not actually life or death, a group of contenders have revealed that it doesn't feel far off.

Not only that, but the series is so intensely exhausting that they started to 'hallucinate'.

Melissa, also known as Player 110, told Metro: 'The second I walked into these challenges, I immediately started crying.

'The level of intensity when you are strapped into a squid vest, I don’t think you can understand what that feels like. My heart would immediately drop every time.

'The intensity was so much more than you could even imagine. They’re simple games, but we really were fighting for our lives.'

She went on to explain that knowing the huge prize money was up for grabs, it put a huge amount of 'pressure' on contestants during the games.

Fellow player Jacob, known as Player 432, added that the high-stress environment was only made worse by the difficulty in getting enough sleep, and enough to eat.

Players only get to keep hold of one metal water bottle to keep hydrated.

While there are no clocks for contenders to know what time it is, Jacob stressed that he, like many, were running on very few hours of sleep.

He said: 'It got to a point where I was just so tired, but I had to be awake because the game is so intense, I started hallucinating a little bit because I’d close my eyes, then suddenly I’d have to wake up, and it’s time to play.'

Jacob entered the game alongside his twin brother Raul, Player 431, with the pair aware they had 'eyes on them' due to their close bond.

It comes after a former contestant on Squid Game: The Challenge opened up on what it was really like behind the scenes on the show.

Mikie Bowe, 36, was allocated Player 254 in the game show version of the series, told Daily Mail: 'It was the hardest thing that I have ever done in my entire life.

'We couldn't tell the time or see the outside, so day and night didn't matter. We ate, slept, and gamed on the demand of the guards. I think we had about eight hours of rest in between days.

'Food was fuel. For some of us it was unbearable, but I ate it all. We had oats for breakfast, which I didn't mind, but the Americans couldn't handle it.

'Other meals consisted of bland rice and a weird egg. While we had enough food, there were no treats.'
