A yellow weather warning for snow and ice will remain in place today for the eastern coast of the UK, stretching from Scotland to East Anglia. Ice warnings remain in place for Northern Ireland and south-west England. Another widespread frost is expected this morning, with overnight temperatures dropping as low as -6C in south-west England, -8C in Wales and minus 10C in parts of Scotland, the Met Office said. Roadusers were warned over the icy conditions and the Met Office said people could suffer slips and fall injuries in one of this winter's first icy periods. Up to 4in (10cm) of snow is expected to fall on higher ground, with 0.8in (2cm) at lower levels. Oxfordshire became the first region to have at least a centimetre of snow in November since 2007 - making this the earliest snowfall in the south-east of England in 15 years. Hilly areas including the North York Moors and parts of Scotland will see more snow today, forecasters said. Snow swept across the South West, parts of Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland on Thursday. London Mayor Sadiq Khan activated a 'severe weather emergency protocol' which opened accommodation to rough sleepers as temperatures fell below freezing in the capital early yesterday morning and will drop to -3C (27F) for this weekend....read
