POLL OF THE DAY: Should under-fives be limited to one hour of screentime each day?

Parents have been told to limit screentime to an hour a day for under-fives and keep them off social media in new Government guidelines.

Sir Keir Starmer said he wanted to help parents 'navigate' technology using advice, which will be given to parents online and in family centres, and would not leave them to 'fight the battle alone'.

It comes as teachers have complained many children are arriving at school unable to talk properly or turn the pages of a book due to too much time on iPads.

Under the guidance, screentime for children under two should be avoided other than for shared interactive activities, with one hour or less for two to five-year-olds.

And families will be advised to avoid social media-style videos and toys or tools that use artificial intelligence, as well as screens at meal and bedtimes. Parents will also be asked to think about their own screentime in front of children.

Now it's time to have your say in the Daily Mail's latest poll – should under-fives face a one-hour limit on screentime each day?

In yesterday's poll, Mail readers were asked: 'Can new director-general Matt Brittin restore trust in the BBC?' Out of more than 4,000 votes, 91 per cent of you said 'no' and 9 per cent said 'yes'.
