Aussies fume over price of popular Cadbury chocolate sold at Coles

Shoppers are fuming at the price of a $6.50 Cadbury Easter bunny being sold at a major supermarket months before the holiday.

The customer posted a photo of the 80g Cadbury bunny on the shelves at Coles to Reddit, with users sharing their disbelief at the price.

'This is just getting ridiculous - $6.50!' the shopper wrote on Monday.

'Even at half price, for 80gms of chocolate? Way f****d up!' one person wrote.

'Getting really sick of the half-price roundabout Woolies and Coles use for nearly everything these days,' a second agreed.

'Yeah, most prices are f*****, don't buy their stuff if you don't need it. Easter stuff is not necessary. If you want chocolate, buy chocolate when you can get it for an acceptable price,' a third suggested.

However, others disagreed and said the price of the product was reasonable.

'This is absolutely fair for many people. I can afford it and have the time to shop at markets,' one person wrote.

'Not all of the price increase is because of price gouging. Cocoa is now four times the price it was in 2023,' another person wrote.

'Why do people walk in to Coles and Woolies and complain about overpricing... holy smoke... go somewhere else!' a third said.

Others took aim at the sale of Easter products months from the April public holiday.

'I'm more outraged that it's January and we're seeing this!' one person wrote.

'It's f*****g January! another agreed.

A 150g Cadbury Milk Chocolate Easter bunny is $8 on the Coles website.

A similar 100g Easter bunny is being sold for $7.60 in-store at Woolworths.

This bunny price shock followed outrage over the price of Easter bunnies that were sold in supermarket stores last year.

Customers were horrified to discover a 250g Cadbury Dairy Milk Easter bunny being sold for $10 after a separate image of the product was also uploaded to Reddit.

'That's a bloody expensive 250g chocolate,' one person wrote.

'The prices are ridiculous!' another person wrote.

'Inflation is officially out of control,' a third added.
