Senior campaign advisor Corey Lewandowski quickly deleted a post sharing a sensational report alleging that journalist Olivia Nuzzi had an online affair with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Lewandowski, who helmed Trump's 2016 campaign for part of his run and rejoined his effort this summer, shared an article by Status news headlined: 'Olivia Nuzzi on leave from New York magazine after RFK relationship.'
That came Thursday night shortly before the star correspondent told DailyMail.com that 'the nature of some communication between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal' after she visited his home for a feature story. She said the relationship never got physical, but the magazine has placed her on leave.
The longtime Trump advisor might have been unable to resist the chance to settle a grudge, perhaps without realizing that doing so might not reflect well on the Trump campaing.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has endorsed Donald Trump and suspended his independent bid for president, and just this week the vaccine skeptic said he is helping Trump select nominees who would run the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and other health related agencies.
Trump campaign advisor Corey Lewandowski (r) was quick to share a bombshell report about reporter Olivia Nuzzi going on leave following disclosures of her relationship with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. After a few hours he deleted it
Lewandowski may have had an axe to grind when he shared the news about a reporter he once threatened to sue.
He made the threat in 2018 after Nuzzi entered his office while reporting a story about glamorous former Trump advisor Hope Hicks.
She entered Lowendowski's townhouse, where the firm Turnberry Solutions was located. She says after knocking on the door she found it was open, then walked inside the house and snapped a photo.

Nuzzi reportedly met RFK Jr when doing a profile on him for New York magazine
RFK Jr.'s spokesman said he met Nuzzi on one occasion only which resulted in a 'hit piece'
Nuzzi had been working on a profile on Hope Hicks (l, with Kellyanne Conway) when she entered an office associated with Lewandowski without permission, prompting his lawsuit threat
She told the Columbia Journalism Review about her methods reporting the story, including an anecdote about texting her boyfriend while she was inside the office and being advised the activity 'probably wasn't legal.'
'I can confirm I did not grant her permission to enter my office,' Lewandowski told Fox News at the time. Lewandowski evidently lived above the lobbying firm.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Lewandowski and the Trump campaign about the post and why it was deleted.
Lewandowski deleted the post a few hours after putting it up, Mediaite reported.
Lewandowski's decision to delete the post sharing the article came as the story was captivating political Washington, with new attention on Nuzzi's past tweet sharing an magazine article and stating, 'Why does Hollywood think female reporters sleep with their sources?' She has denied physical contact with the Trump-backing RFK, Jr.
