Man, 26, arrested over death of woman, 27, who fell from a moving van at 40mph to face no further police action

A man who was arrested over the death of a woman who fell from a moving van at 40mph will face no further police action.

Leah Senior was fatally injured after plunging from a white Ford Transit van in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, earlier this year, sparking an outpouring of grief.

The 'beautiful' 27-year-old died at the scene in Denby Dale Road on Wednesday, January 17, after suffering catastrophic injuries.

A 25-year-old man was taken into custody by police at the time on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving offences.

The man, from Kirklees, was later bailed while police investigated the incident and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

However, the suspect, who is now 26, has since been released from his bail without further action. 

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police told MailOnline: 'Following further enquiries a 26-year-old man who was released on bail in connection with the incident has now been released without further action.

'A file is being prepared for the coroner.'

In the aftermath of the incident, which took place near to the junction with Hollin Lane, tributes were left online to the 'poor beautiful girl', with one saying: 'I'm lost for words. Such a beautiful young girl.'

The incident itself, brought the major road in Wakefield to a close with more than 30 police officers and paramedics descending on the scene at around 8.20pm.

The 40mph road was temporarily closed to traffic after the incident as forensics searched for clues.

A police forensic tent was seen erected on the road of the incident, where locals described scenes of 'panic' and 'shock'.

One woman previously told local media: 'I saw police put up a tent and knew it was a fatality. It's disgusting.

'I don't know what's coming to the world. It's really horrible to think about.'
