An American man who scooped up a house in Japan for less than the cost of a pair of pants has revealed the bizarre plans for his new abode.
Erik Buhrow bought a three-bed house in Niigata for just $69 - and now proposes to transform it into a Snoopy-themed home.
The 40-year-old construction business owner, from Minnesota, grew up in Japan and splits his time between there and the US.
He spotted the '70s property last month and hurriedly snapped it up.
'When I saw the house, I could not believe the price,' he said.
'The house is two floors, with three bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own staircase from the bottom floor to the top.'
He says the low property value is due to the home's dilapidated condition, and very few people want to renovate houses in the Japanese countryside.
Now, with a $30,000 budget, he plans on transforming the home into a Peanuts-themed paradise - and is willing to risk any hidden financial fallout.

'I don't really care if it makes money, it is just a creative outlet for me while I work,' he shared.
'I enjoy seeing something coming into existence and not just be discarded.'
Buhrow wants to restore the rundown parts of the house by repainting it the iconic red Snoopy house color, along with Snoopy decorations and decor.
The home, which was on the market after the previous elderly owner passed away in a care home, has sparked rumors that it is haunted, which is why it was so cheap.
'In Japan, there are these monsters that we call Yokai, and they can occupy your house,' Buhrow explained.
'I think they are thinking of creepy monsters like the thing out of The Grudge, but it's quite a modern house, and no one died there.'
'I just don't help myself by touring the house in the dark with a flashlight,' he added jokingly.
He added that making it Snoopy-themed would dispel theories of it being haunted.

'The location is really, really awesome, it is two blocks to walk to a ferry that takes you to an island called Sado Island, which is a world heritage site,' he explained.
'When it is Snoopy themed, no one will think it is haunted anymore - who can be scared of Snoopy?' he quipped.
The handyman hopes to increase tourism in the area, believing that people should explore the villages of Japan more, especially when Niigata is a 90-minute bullet train to Tokyo.
'It is also so close to Tokyo, so its great for people who want to explore the local parts of Japan, and dabble in the cities.'
